Upper Freehold Firefighters had the opportunity to do some ice rescue training this morning on a frozen parking lot of the Reed Recreation Complex in Upper Freehold Township Firefighters and rescue workers who perform ice rescue must make the most of this time of year to get in training refreshers to keep up skills and knowledge.

Walking or playing on frozen bodies of water is extremely dangerous! Even while training extreme caution is constantly used. The benefit to having a frozen over parking lot is that the ice is thick enough to move around on, but there is no large body of water under it. So, even if the ice were to break or crack no one would fall into water as this is an asphalt parking lot underneath. Further more intense training will be performed to ensure the proper readiness.
