These updates are designed to provide the residents of Upper Freehold with helpful information relating to the Covid-19 Coronavirus. Information and decisions are evaluated every day and are fluid.
1) UFT LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY: Covid-19 Coronavirus continues to pose a threat to the State of New Jersey and continues to pose a threat to the residents of Upper Freehold Township. We are a small town, with small resources with 47 square miles (2nd largest in Monmouth County) of residents that is why I have asked our Office of Emergency Management, in consult with health officers, and township officials to declare a Local State of Emergency for Upper Freehold Township effective 12:00pm today, March 21, 2020. This declaration does not/should not change your daily lives during this crisis. I strongly encourage everyone to continue to adhere to the recommendations and limitations that the CDC, State, and County have established.
2) Effective Monday, March 23, 2020, the Upper Freehold Township employees with be operating remotely. The Township building will remain closed to the public as noted in my first Update. However, all drop-boxes for taxes, applications and alike are still available in the vestibule of the Township building.
3) We encourage all residents to support our local businesses to the extent you can and they remain open. We encourage all local businesses to develop good practices and procedures consistent with the social distancing and gatherings size, such as prior credit card payment before pick-up, a number system, pick-up outside, limited line sizes, separating customers and employees as some examples.
For updated information, I encourage all to review the UFT webpage, UFT OEM Facebook, Monmouth County and CDC webpages.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding. We are all in this together and will get through this together. UFT is a tight community, if you know someone that needs help, help them if you can. – Be Safe!
