This was the inaugural season for the A&M Redbirds and we are truly lucky to have a team – the first few weeks in August we were still scrambling for enough participants at the competition level as well as coaches. We were fortunate that 10 girls joined and then beyond fortunate for the coaches that volunteered.
Head Coach Melody – This was Melody’s first time coaching. She jumped at the opportunity not really understanding all that was involved. She soon realized the amount of time and dedication required and became an amazing head coach! While learning how to be a head coach of a competition team she managed two practice and game schedules for her daughters who are on the MM and Flag cheer squads. She did an amazing job creating a team environment where the girls motivated each other for success.
Jr Coaches – both honor students at Allentown high school, they dedicated numerous hours to coaching and encouraging the girls to achieve their best. The girls are excellent role models for teaching the girls that hard work and dedication are required for success. They created the music for the routine and designed the competition shirts.
Team Mom – Liz was volunteered for the position and stepped up when she realized we needed her. She helped organize the fundraising activities and assisted with practices.
Cheer Coordinator- This is my last year as the cheer coordinator, an assistant coach, and a board member, (all three positions are open and we need volunteers). While I worked during the week I supported the team on the weekends and evenings. Handling the cheer books, monthly meetings, team orders, and travel arrangements. I couldn’t ask for a better way to end my career with the organization then working with these ladies for a national title!
I would also like to mention Sharon Peake, who is a veteran coach of the Millstone Eagles Cheer teams. Sharon volunteered throughout the season coaching, providing guidance, and support for the cheerleaders and the coaches. She was determined to help this organization succeed and her dedication was inspiring.
We could have made this achievement without everyone involved – so proud to be part of this amazing group of ladies!
