The 2015 Annual Audit report was released at the Council meeting on July 12th. To review the full document, click here. The audit was completed by Bowman and Company. No formal recommendations were made. The Borough is in good fiscal shape.
Bond Ordinance 11-2016 was also introduced at the same Council meeting. Click here to read the document in full. This ordinance will allow the Borough to raise the funds needed to purchase the property at 32 ½ North Main Street. The Borough is also applying for an open space grant and seeking additional funding sources to defray the costs of this purchase. The public hearing for Bond Ordinance 11-2016 will take place tonight at the Council meeting.
The Borough of Allentown is hosting an online auction to sell some very used municipal equipment. To access the online auction, click here. All items are being sold as is. Descriptions including vehicle identification numbers, condition, and more are listed on the auction site. The auction ends next Monday. Don’t miss your opportunity to pick up some very used equipment for a reasonable price!
The Borough’s Planning and Zoning Board Secretary is retiring effective December 1, 2016. We wish her the best of luck on her future endeavors! At the 2016 National Oral Health Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, the Borough’s water utility was recognized by the Centers for Disease Control, the American Dental Association, and the Association of State and Territorial Directors for their contributions made on behalf of community water fluoridation over the last fifty years. With summer temperatures heating up, don’t forget to protect your family and loved ones from the Zika virus. We have updated information from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on our website. Click here to view. Cases of infants being born with the Zika virus have been confirmed in both New York and southern New Jersey.
Representatives from Porzio, Bromberg and Newman, P.C. will attend tonight’s Council meeting to address the public regarding the municipality’s issue with the Upper Freehold Regional School District’s 2016-2017 school tax apportionment rate. Bring your questions before the professionals and the Governing Body to find out what happened and what can be done in the future to prevent this from happening again. All are welcome. The meeting will take place at 7:00PM in the Council Room.
A reminder about bulk trash pick-up. Bulk trash occurs on the second Tuesday of every month. You must call 609-259-3151 to get your items added to the list. If your items are not on the list, there is no guarantee that your items will be picked up. Regular trash collection and white/electronic trash collection occurs tomorrow.
Third quarter taxes are due August 1st. The third quarter tax bills are estimated.
